Although Corinne Duyvis makes her living working in Amsterdam as an administrative assistant and Dutch-to-English translator, her real passion lies in the arts. Since graduating from the Wackers Academie in 2008, she's strived to develop her skills and careers as both a portrait artist and writer.

She has a harmless Internet addiction, and her hobbies slant toward the geeky side of things: comic books, computers, RPGs, online fandom and everything SF/F, balanced out by a broad taste in music and movies and an affinity for practicing no-nonsense martial arts on Sunday mornings. She loves animals, in particular her own pets - two madly-in-love part-time dogs and a neurotic full-time cat.

In her art, Corinne has an affinity for black-and-white portraits - especially when done in charcoal - as she feels it leaves her free to delve deep into the balance between dark and light in a drawing. She's meticulously attentive to detail and loves playing around with contrasts and composition. Although she regularly accepts portrait commissions and has even made an appearance on Dutch television show Sterren op het Doek, she still feels like she's searching for her own style: something she feels at home doing. Until she finds it, she's happy to keep experimenting with different styles and approaches.

While Corinne has been writing since she was a little kid - long before she ever started drawing - she's only started to take it seriously in recent years. Although she writes short stories in various genres, her focus is on contemporary fantasy novels. She loves writing and developing vastly different yet realistic characters in a setting where the supernatural is weaved into our own world, and strives to find unique takes on this conflict.
